Islamic Center of El Paso: From Rented Premises to Paragon Lane
An institutional history, a public address and a learning-center listing describe related—but different—parts of the El Paso record.
The Islamic Center of El Paso’s published history describes beginnings in a rented downtown house in the 1980s and a move to Paragon Lane in 2004. Those dates identify two stages in the institution’s account. The decade should not be converted into an invented exact founding year, and the move should not be presented as the first appearance of Muslims in the city.
The accompanying photograph records the center in 2013. Its mountainside setting helps locate the institution visually, but the image is historical rather than evidence of today’s operating arrangements. The center’s public contact page lists 143 Paragon Lane, El Paso, Texas 79912.
An address can support more than one activity
Furqaan Academy Online’s onsite-learning information lists an El Paso networked learning center at the same Paragon Lane address for grades 1–12. That is evidence of a described educational program, not proof of a second mosque or permission to merge the school and mosque into one legal organization. Families should follow the education provider’s own admissions information for current arrangements.
This distinction keeps the school resources useful without distorting the mosque-count discussion. Institutions, physical premises and programs can be connected while still needing separate records.
Read El Paso on its own terms

The center's building on Paragon Lane, which its own history says it moved into in 2004. Education programs listed at the same address are programs here, recorded as one place rather than several. Its published janazah guidance names a cemetery relationship with Memory Gardens of the Valley in Santa Teresa, New Mexico — that is a partner cemetery across the state line, not an on-site Texas cemetery. Confirm iqamah with the center rather than a calculated timetable.
