Houston, Texas · Association
Islamic Society of Greater Houston
Also known as ISGH
An umbrella body that operates a network of Islamic centers across the Houston area and describes religious, educational and social services on its own site. Its About page gives 1969 as the year it was established. Different pages of the site give different centre totals, so no total is stated here until the operator's own figures agree.

Islamic Society of Greater Houston: An Association and Its Network
ISGH’s history and its location list answer different questions about Muslim Houston.
The Islamic Society of Greater Houston is an association, not simply the name of one building. Its institutional history dates its establishment to 1969 and describes earlier gatherings involving students, professionals and families. The Upper Kirby mosque in the accompanying 2017 photograph is one visible part of that history; it should not stand in for every location or every Muslim community in the Houston area.
Following the network
ISGH’s official center list names places in Houston and surrounding communities. A reader should use the individual location’s published information when arranging a visit or asking about a service. The association’s general program list does not establish that every building offers every program.
The site’s summary totals are not consistent across all its pages, so this profile does not turn them into a single verified number of operating centers. The mosque-count explainer explains why an organizational total, a list of addresses and a statewide estimate must remain separate. Existing directory entries below record only the locations documented in Texas Muslim’s own listing.
History with somewhere to go next
The Houston Atlas connects the association to the wider city, while the Houston–DFW institutional comparison considers how organizations, locations and services fit together. These connections are more useful than treating one association as a proxy for the beliefs, background or membership of everyone who lives nearby.

Programs the association describes
The association describes services on its own site in general terms. Because general descriptions are not proof that each building offers each service, none are attributed to individual locations here.
