The 2026 Institutions and Schools Register
Research editor: Omar Afra · Data and source review: Texas Muslim Evidence Desk.
117 selected records including 35 school organizations and programs · Version 2026.3 · Released October 8, 2026 · Not a census.

A mosque building, an organization, a school program and a campus resource answer different questions. This register brings their published records together without treating them as interchangeable. It is a selected, source-checked register—not a census, market share, attendance study or complete statewide count.
Methods and definitions
Version 2026.3 retains stable identifiers from the September release, reconciles the supplied October research against existing records, and keeps source dates attached. One school organization is one row; Salam Academy’s four campuses remain children of one school record. Place rows describe physical sites. Resource rows retain the original register’s broader reference units, including organization and service entries; they are not additional mosque buildings. The tables below are calculated from the same typed records used for the downloads.
A source check records what the cited school, operator or public source says. It is not a visit, independent certification, current enrollment figure or human-review sign-off. Named accreditors are retained exactly as recorded; unnamed accreditation claims, memberships and curriculum partnerships are not promoted into accreditation. No voucher eligibility is inferred.
Release and change log
The original institutions dataset was published September 23, 2026. Version 2026.3 was locally released October 8, 2026 (America/Chicago), with the October source cutoff of October 8. Individual records retain their own checked dates. The expansion reconciled 20 rows with existing register entries and four with directory places, added 35 source-qualified place/resource entries and 23 schools, and held nine institutional candidates outside the register. This version contains 117 records including 35 school organizations and programs.
Known omissions and limits
The register is intentionally selected. Unresolved address, grade, operating-status and public-access conflicts stay outside the released data. The conditional school and five school holds are excluded. It does not measure the Muslim population, congregational attendance, capacity, school enrollment or market share. Metro labels follow the existing Atlas guides, not a statistical metropolitan-area boundary. Unassigned records are not evidence of an absence of institutions elsewhere.
Operator statements describe supported relationships, not property ownership. A school and mosque at one address do not become one entity, and multiple programs at an address do not automatically establish multiple buildings. A missing value means unestablished in this record, not none or zero.
Reuse and corrections
Use the institutions dataset and field dictionary and school dataset and field dictionary for machine-readable rows. Each retains source links, checked dates and material limitations. Source material remains governed by its publisher’s terms; the compilation does not grant rights to source photographs or documents. Read our Evidence Desk method, or send a correction identifying the record and supporting source.
